Responsibilities
- Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the teacher.
- Administers a variety of materials and assignments, including tests, homework, and grades papers.
- Administers first aid and provides medical assistance as needed.
- Aids students with personal care needs due to medical conditions or physical limitations.
- Attends meetings and in-service presentations to acquire and convey relevant information.
- Convenes with teachers and parents to discuss student progress and implement IEP objectives.
- Instructs students in various activities such as academic subjects, social skills, and daily living skills.
- Maintains instructional materials and student files/records.
- Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring students during assigned periods.
Requirements
Essential Functions include adapting classroom activities, administering materials, providing first aid, aiding personal care, attending meetings, convening with teachers and parents, instructing students, maintaining materials, and monitoring students.
Qualifications
Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, an associate degree or higher, seventy-two quarter credits or forty-eight semester credits, or completion of an apprenticeship as a paraeducator. No prior experience is required.
Skills
Specific skills include instructional procedures and practices, age-appropriate student activities, safety practices, conflict resolution, stages of child development, and behavior skills.
