Railroad Engineer
Duties
- Light maintenance, cleaning and driving the train and shuttles
- Serving as conductor and platform assistant
- Selling train tickets
Responsibilities
- Assisting guests boarding and disembarking trains
- Driving or serving as conductor on trains
- Inspecting trains and shuttles for safety
- Pulling and parking trains and shuttles for storage
- Cleaning trains to maintain a first-class appearance
- Selling tickets and cash handling (may be required)
Minimum Requirements
- A High School Diploma
- Strong communications skills
- Maintain a valid class E driver’s license
- Pass a yearly physical
Abilities Required
- Available most weekends and holidays
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Withstand the physical stress of getting on and off trains frequently
- Engineer must be able to maneuver guests using wheelchairs on and off trains
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to drive shuttles in city traffic
- People skills to considerately handle guest issues within guidelines of Zoo policies
Pay
This position starts at $15.50 per hour, but may increase based on certain factors including experience, and availability.
