Railroad Crossing Technician

About the role

As a Railroad Crossing Applicator at DeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS), you’ll help maintain and protect the environment while representing our company’s values and reputation. This is a full-time, seasonal role (exact start and end dates may vary based on weather and workload).

Responsibilities

• Fill trucks with water/chemical mix
• Perform minor weed eating with an industrial weed eater and chainsaw work (16" bar minimum) – approx. 25% of each day
• Pull and roll up 300–500 feet of hose up to 32 times per day
• Spray 8–10 railroad crossings daily
• Safely drive and operate spray trucks between crossings
• Call MTM for daily job briefings
• Complete required end-of-day paperwork
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 21+ years of age or older
• Valid driver’s license with at least 5 years of clean driving history
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and federal background check for railroad property access
• Ability to travel away from home for 4–6 weeks at a time (DCS provides hotel accommodations and per diem)
• Flexible schedule: Most work is Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm, with 10–12-hour shifts. Some weekend or night work may be required. Hours may vary with weather and workload
• Occasionally travel to offices during breaks for routine truck/equipment maintenance
• Must comply with company drug and alcohol policy

Training Provided

• Paid training in vegetation identification, chemical usage, safety procedures, application methods, and equipment operation/maintenance

Pay

$19–20/hour, depending on experience.
