Key Responsibilities
- Fill trucks with water/chemical mix.
- Perform minor weed eating with an industrial weed eater and chainsaw work (16" bar minimum) – approx. 25% of each day.
- Pull and roll up 300–500 feet of hose up to 32 times per day.
- Spray 8–10 railroad crossings daily.
- Safely drive and operate spray trucks between crossings.
- Call MTM for daily job briefings.
- Complete required end-of-day paperwork.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 21+ years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license with at least 5 years of clean driving history.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and federal background check for railroad property access.
- Ability to travel 1-3 weeks at a time, home weekends except for 2-3 weeks of the entire season. (DCS provides hotel accommodations and per diem).
- Flexible schedule: Most work is Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm, with 10–12-hour shifts. Some weekend or night work may be required. Hours may vary with weather and workload.
- Occasionally travel to offices during breaks for routine truck/equipment maintenance.
- Must comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
Training Provided
- Paid training in vegetation identification, chemical usage, safety procedures, application methods, and equipment operation/maintenance.
