Railcar Repair Technician

About the role

The Railcar Repair Technician at Transco Rail Services is responsible for conducting all aspects of repair and maintenance on tank cars, ensuring compliance and performing necessary repairs. They also support customers, manage paperwork, and adhere to AAR rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conducts railcar inspections to ensure compliance and performs repairs as needed.
• Meets customer expectations to ensure satisfaction.
• Ensures all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is complete.
• Maintains all certifications and demonstrates strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
• Performs welding repairs as required.
• Completes other work-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to use various hand tools and perform welding.
• Welding experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong customer relations and teamwork skills.
• Safety-conscious and able to work in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements

• Able to stoop for extended periods.
• Routinely moves between kneeling and standing positions.
• Able to wear a respirator.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
• Able to work in confined spaces.
• Able to pass a company physical exam.
