Transco Rail Services, along with Union Tank Car Company (UTLX) and Procor, delivers full-service railcar repair and maintenance through a broad North American network of fixed shops and mobile field service teams. Serving freight and tank car fleets across multiple industries, we are committed to safety, compliance, quality, and reliable service.

Responsibilities

• Conduct all aspects of repair and maintenance on tank cars.
• Demonstrate good leadership and team skills while being safety-conscious.
• Use current repair procedures for railcar repair.
• Conduct railcar inspections to ensure compliance and perform repairs as necessary.
• Meet customer expectations and requirements to ensure satisfaction.
• Complete all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information.
• Maintain all certifications, including tank car welding, and demonstrate strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
• Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and decision-making ability.
• Ability to use hand tools (e.g., pipe wrenches, pry bars, wrenches, ratchets, and equipment for chipping/grinding weld slag or spatter).
• Experience in basic railcar repairs and inspections.
• Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a team.
• Demonstrated welding abilities with ongoing improvement in skill and knowledge of railcar repairs.
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Strong emphasis in welding.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positions.
• Ability to wear a respirator.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from the ground surface.
• Ability to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Ability to physically fit into a man-way opening as small as 18” in diameter (site applicable).
• Must pass a company physical exam.

Pay

$24.18/hr
