About the role
The Railcar Repair Technician conducts all aspects of repair and maintenance on tank cars. This role requires strong leadership and team skills, along with a strong commitment to safety.
Responsibilities
- Conduct railcar inspections to ensure compliance and perform repairs as necessary using current repair procedures.
- Meet customer expectations to ensure satisfaction with work performed.
- Complete all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order documentation.
- Maintain all required certifications and demonstrate strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Mechanical aptitude with problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to use hand tools (e.g., pipe wrenches, pry bars, wrenches, ratchets) and equipment to chip and grind weld slag or spatter.
- Experience with basic railcar repairs and inspections.
- Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a team.
- Commitment to working safely and following proper procedures.
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Travel required: up to 50%, including weekly local travel, regional day trips, and overnight travel as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from the ground surface.
- Ability to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights.
- Ability to perform a FIT Test and wear a respirator.
- Must pass a company physical exam, drug screening, and background check.

Schedule
- 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Some weekend and holiday coverage as needed.
Pay
$24.92/hour.
