Rail Terminal Trailer/Chassis Mechanic
About the role
Pacific Trailer Repair Services is hiring a Container, Chassis, and Trailer Mechanic to join their team at the CSX Philadelphia, PA Railroad Terminal. The position offers full-time hours with great career potential in a stable, recession-proof industry.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections to meet Federal Highway Administration safety standards
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble components such as landing gears, wheel axles, and brakes (welding may be required)
- Troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems
- Complete accurate, legible work orders in a timely manner
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety toe boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, hard hat, and welding gear when needed
- Keep work area clean and safe
- Handle additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass pre-employment screenings (background check, drug test, and physical strength test)
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on mechanical background
- Mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of electrical systems
- Welding experience is a plus, but not required
Physical Requirements
- Active, outdoor role in varying weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold, wind)
- Move throughout the yard and terminal by walking or driving
- Work around fast-moving equipment
- Handle frequent noise levels
- Safety comes first – stay alert in a dynamic environment

Pay and Schedule
- Starting Pay: $20 – $22 per hour, based on prior experience
- Schedule: 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday. Day shift only – no nights or weekends. Overtime opportunities available.
