Responsibilities
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections on locomotives to ensure the unit is in proper working condition each day.
- Operate locomotive in accordance with company and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) policies.
- Observe, interpret, and relay arm, lantern, or radio signals and all other indications affecting movement of a train.
- Safely and efficiently switch cars through the railyard to meet production needs.
- Inspect the condition of the train and equipment while in movement and while stationary.
- Ensure compliance with all train orders, signals, and railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the FRA.
- Monitor track conditions and report any issues.
- Follow OSHA safety standards and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
- High school diploma or GED completed; higher education is a plus.
- Minimum 1 year of rail engineering and experience.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull at least 50 pounds.
- Ability to utilize technology such as tablets and/or computers.
- Able to work in an outdoor environment constantly exposed to variable weather conditions, temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, smells, and loud noises.
Pay
USD $24.58 per hour.
