Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient history.
  • Educates patients/families regarding procedures and/or treatment to be performed as well as risk factors and prevention.
  • Positions patients appropriately for the applicable radiographic procedure.
  • Performs radiographic procedures and analysis according to departmental guidelines.
  • Develops and evaluates radiographic results for technical quality, such as density, contrast, definition and distortion.
  • Applies learned methodologies with independent judgment according to established policies and procedures.
  • Performs prescribed procedures in accordance with established policies.
  • Maintains infection prevention standards.
  • Explains standard procedures and answers patients' questions.
  • Prepares, cleans, adjusts, inspects and maintains equipment.
  • Produces quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate documentation, archiving imaging data as needed or required.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other medical professionals.
  • Modality Specific:
    • Performs radiographic procedures using both stationary and mobile radiographic equipment.
    • Responsible for appropriate set up of the x-ray room and manipulation of equipment, and proper placement of patient for procedure.
    • Ensures proper image capture of skeletal structure requested for diagnosis and treatment purposes.
    • Processes and develops exposed x-ray film and creates x-ray CD copies for review and interpretation.
  • Quality:
    • Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements, demonstrating ability to troubleshoot and notifying appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
    • Affirms the efficient operation of workflow of the department and monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure non-interruption of service.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associates of Applied Science or other related fields.
  • Certificates and Licensure: MRTBE, ARRT - Required upon date of hire or within six months of date of hire; BLS (American Heart Association) - Required.
  • Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.
