About the role
Transports patients from various hospital departments to and from the Diagnostic Services Department.
Responsibilities
- Maintains accurate records of patient transport to and from D.S. Department.
- Utilizes RIS to properly check-in and check-out patients.
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of IVAC pumps, drainage devices, catheters, restraints and oxygen tanks.
- Demonstrates proficiency with regards to stretchers/carts, wheelchairs, O2 tanks, transfer devices and personal protective equipment.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate and provide a safe environment for infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
- CPR certification within 90 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful completion of a patient care aide-training program or equivalent
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to exert 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Visual acuity must be within normal ranges.
- Must be able to position, lift, move patients of all weights with varying amounts of assistance in a fair manner on a regular and recurring basis.
- Frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and feeling are necessary body movements utilized in performing duties throughout the work shift.
Working Environment
- Exposure to body fluids, human tissues, contagious diseases, sharps and explosive gases.
- Exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
- Exposure to high stress and constant interruptions.
- Exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants.
