Responsibilities

  • Exhibits working knowledge of all Diagnostic Radiology equipment and procedures.
  • Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history.
  • Explains procedure completely to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety.
  • Performs all procedures in an efficient and timely manner without compromising quality or the mission statement.
  • Captures and reports accidents, incidents and safety hazards.
  • Uses PPE (personal protective equipment) when appropriate.
  • Aware of potential chemical hazards and how to access MSDS information.
  • Uses good body mechanics when moving patients.
  • Adheres to infection control practices.
  • Asks females of childbearing age if they may be pregnant.
  • Uses proper Radiation shielding for pediatric patients and patients in childbearing age.
  • Routinely wears film badge to monitor Radiation exposure.
  • Completes Annual Mandate Radiation Safety.
  • Routinely performs proper tube warm-up for all x-ray equipment.
  • Reports all equipment problems to chief technologist and places service call through call center.
  • Completes Exam Data Entry fields on all exams.
  • Documents all pertinent information, i.e., patient history, tech initials, other duties as assigned.
  • Available to work a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24-hour coverage of the Radiology Department.
  • Affords assistance in other areas of the department as workload permits.
  • Keeps areas well stocked at all times.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technologist Program.
  • Good interpersonal/human relations skills.
  • Good oral/written communication skills.
  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Good critical thinking/decision making skills.
  • Superior organizational skills.
  • American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and current Louisiana Registered Radiologic license (LSRT).
  • New Graduates: Registry Eligible for ARRT; current or temporary Louisiana Registered Radiologic license (LSRT); BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
