About the Role
The practice of radiography is performed by a segment of health care professionals responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. A radiographer performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by, or by the request of, a licensed independent practitioner.
Responsibilities
- Performs radiography procedures based on the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) “Radiography Practice Standards” and the ASRT “Code of Ethics”
- Understands and adheres to departmental exam protocols
- Actively participates in quality control and quality assurance activities using the “APIE” model
- Performs venipuncture
- Prepares, administers, and documents activities related to contrast
Qualifications
- Completion of formal Radiological Technologist training from an AMA approved school
- Twenty-four month clinical internship required
- Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy, Required
- ARRT certification, Required (ARRT eligible candidates will be considered for hire with the expectation that certification will be obtained within 12 months of hire)
- Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment
