Radiology Technologist - Diagnostic Radiology

Performs diagnostic imaging procedures to assist licensed practitioners in treating patient medical conditions. Operates imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort, following Health First policies and procedures, regulatory protocols, and collaborating with healthcare teams to produce high-quality radiographic images for accurate medical evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe environment with the operation of diagnostic imaging equipment for patients, coworkers, and self by adhering to diagnostic imaging policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Performs a variety of procedures which may include general radiographic, portables, emergency room, trauma, operating room, mammography, and fluoroscopic exams including invasive procedures.
  • Properly screens patients for diagnostic imaging exams and effectively documents and communicates pertinent and required information pre- and post-procedure.
  • Positions patients for diagnostic imaging exams using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with department safety procedures and protocols.
  • Produces images consistent with image quality standards and evaluates diagnostic imaging exams for technical quality.
  • Properly identifies, prepares, and administers medications within the Radiology Technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Monitors patients during exams, observing for any adverse reactions or complications, and takes appropriate action when necessary.
  • Maintains flexibility and adapts to changes in workflow processes and organizational needs based on fluctuations in patient volume.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, licensed practitioners, other Health First associates, and the public using excellent customer relation skills.
  • Follows all federal, state, and regional healthcare regulations and adheres to The Joint Commission/ACR standards.
  • Ability to report to applicable Health First facility within thirty (30) minutes when on call.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Joint Review Committee-approved Radiologic Technology program or school.
  • For mammography: Maintains Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) compliance.
  • General Radiographer licensure in the State of Florida.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist – ARRT (R) certification.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently in a stressful work environment and respond to life-threatening situations.
  • Demonstrates effective time management, critical thinking skills, and coordinates scheduling and patient flow.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior diagnostic imaging experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Physical Requirements

  • Physically agile; requires walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching for the majority of the shift.
  • Heavy work that frequently includes lifting or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more with or without assistance.
  • May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces, reaching above shoulders or overhead.
  • May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
  • May be exposed to inside and outside environments with extreme temperatures, air contamination, dirt, grease, or water.
  • May work with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
  • May operate various types of manual and motorized equipment used in the transportation of materials.
  • May be exposed to intense noise or vibration and awkward or confined work positions.
  • Requires visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined, onsite or remote.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
