Essential Responsibilities / Duties

  • Utilizes knowledge of A/P and cardiac procedures to document in appropriate clinical systems appropriately and carefully to include but not limited to: flushing of sheaths & maintaining sheath integrity to ensure proper homeostasis; introducing catheters into vessel structures consistent with current CDIC standard operating procedures; obtaining hemodynamic and angiographic data by operating transducer and manifold.
  • Aids in the operation of mechanical atherectomy, thrombectomy, and intravascular lithotripsy devices.
  • Under direct order of physician, positions, inflates, and deflates balloons and stents inside the vessels. Assists with all balloons, catheters, sheaths, and wire exchanges.
  • Expected to demonstrate and perform proper post arterial and venous access care and management (e.g., mechanic closure devices and/or manual compression).
  • Conveys pertinent patient history to the physician in a manner consistent with current pre and post care policies.
  • Captures all documentation required for all procedures in appropriate clinical systems according to standards. Maintains accuracy of database and ensures all patients and procedures are recorded accurately in said database.
  • Verifies procedure log is accurate and assists MD with procedure reports.

Equipment

  • Knowledgeable about and can operate complex and sophisticated equipment related to Cardiac Catheterizations and Interventions.
  • Ability to operate electronic equipment to properly monitor patients’ heart rhythm, blood pressure, and hemodynamics during procedures.
  • Prepares and assists MD with radiographic equipment including but not limited to Impella, IABP, Angio jet, ACT machine, Hemochron, OCT, IVUS, RFR, IFR, FFR, Cath works, CSI, and IVL etc.
  • Demonstrates ability to properly care for and troubleshoot Cardiac Cath lab equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Maintain up to date quality control for radiation safety and participate in annual radiation safety in-services.

Job Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
  • BLS and ACLS.
  • Current RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist), ARRT (C1), or equivalent certification or achieved within 2 years of employment.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab or interventional experience.
  • Proficiency in advanced hemodynamics, device management, and coronary interventions strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience assisting in high-acuity interventions (IABP, Impella, Swan-Ganz) strongly preferred.
  • Willing to train the right candidate.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

  • Strong knowledge of coronary anatomy, interventional devices, and procedural techniques strongly preferred.
  • Ability to anticipate physician needs and respond quickly in critical situations.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of technical competency with imaging systems, intraprocedural monitoring, and arterial and venous access management strongly preferred.
  • Flexibility with varied start times required.
  • Weekday and Weekend call rotation required.

Compensation

Compensation Range: $45.08 - $66.99
