Radiology Technologist

Job Responsibilities

• Takes radiographs per physician orders.
• Maintains a safe environment by protecting all patients and employees from unnecessary radiation.
• Operates computer systems and reports all equipment problems to manager and Clinical Engineers.
• Schedules all exams done through the whole department, alerting a supervisor when necessary.
• Uses the centralized transport program for patient transportation.
• Looks up pertinent information in the computer systems concerning patient exams, ordering, reprinting, or canceling when necessary.
• Interacts professionally with other departments.
• Can effectively call in needed on-call imaging associates as required.
• Communicates all equipment problems to the clinical engineering 24-hour phone number.
• Communicates messages to co-workers, either written or verbal.
• Alerts managers to all equipment problems (paging during periods of on-call) if necessary.
• Remains available for assignment as needed.
• Affords assistance to Radiologic Technologist Students.
• Performs operational duties associated with equipment quality assurance, regulatory compliance, ordering of supplies, scheduling of staff, and hospital and departmental audits.

Required Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of medical terminology, isolation, and sterile techniques/procedures.
• Patient positioning and equipment operation (x-ray machines and printers).
