Job Responsibilities
- Takes radiographs per physician orders.
- Maintains a safe environment by protecting all patients and employees from unnecessary radiation.
- Operates computer systems and reports all equipment problems to manager and Clinical Engineers.
- Schedules all exams done through the whole department, alerting a supervisor when necessary.
- Uses the centralized transport program for patient transportation.
- Looks up pertinent information in the computer systems concerning patient exams, ordering, reprinting, or canceling when necessary.
- Interacts professionally with other departments.
- Can effectively call in needed on-call imaging associates as required.
- Communicates all equipment problems to the clinical engineering 24-hour phone number.
- Communicates messages to co-workers, either written or verbal.
- Alerts managers to all equipment problems (paging during periods of on-call) if necessary.
- Remains available for assignment as needed.
- Affords assistance to Radiologic Technologist Students.
- Performs operational duties associated with equipment quality assurance, regulatory compliance, ordering of supplies, scheduling of staff, and hospital and departmental audits.
Required Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology, isolation, and sterile techniques/procedures.
- Patient positioning and equipment operation (x-ray machines and printers).
