Purpose of Position
Perform radiographic procedures by applying ionizing radiation to patients in a manner consistent with prescribed radiation protection safety standards.
Description
Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures operating radiographic and other equipment/devices as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Schedule Details: 40 hrs. per week, Rot. Days/Eves, 4p-12a, 3p-11p occ. 10a-6p, 11a-7p. E/O Weekend & Rot. Holidays *Sign-On Bonus Eligible!
- Organization : Cape Cod Hospital
- Moves x-ray equipment into specified position and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Operate mobile x-ray equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
- Transfer images to the PACS system and check image quality and proper identification.
- Receive and review requests for radiologic studies. Provide explanation of procedures and answer pertinent questions of patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
- Assists with the preparation of patients for radiographic procedures, including positioning and immobilization.
- Applies principles of radiographic protection using beam restriction devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors, to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
- Care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and procedures to ensure safety and comfort.
- Evaluates images in the PACS system for technical quality.
- Assists physician with administration of radiographic contrast media or its direct administration if trained and sanctioned by the radiologist.
- Follow established policies, procedures and protocols set forth by the department and ARRT.
- Participates in activities which promote professional self-growth and development; meeting minimum requirements for continuing education as directed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and Massachusetts Radiation Control Program.
- Maintains an ethical relationship with patients, physicians, personnel, and guests and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
- Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
- Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested.
Education and Certification
- Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology
- Must meet one of the following qualifications:
- (ARRT) - Registered by the ARRT
- Registry eligible and registered within 1 year
- Valid Massachusetts State License from the Massachusetts Radiation Control Board in Radiography
- BLS – Basic Life Support certification
Hiring Pay Range
$34.87 - $50.78/hr
