Radiology Technician

Under the direction of a radiologist, performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis. Assumes daily operational responsibility for designated area as required.

Responsibilities

• Take high-quality images as requested by ordering providers.
• Position patients and adjust equipment for taking x-rays following established procedures and protocols.
• Instruct patients regarding procedures; observe patients for vital signs during examination and prioritize patient safety.
• Follow prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.
• Select length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on an individual patient basis.
• Examine radiologic images for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.
• Appropriately prep patients for exams by having them put on gowns or shorts and remove any foreign objects including jewelry, buttons, zippers, etc.
• Perform quality control of images on DR/CR machine and Stentor; ensure all information (images and paperwork) is available for the Radiologist.
• Authorize release of patients upon completion of radiologic examination.
• Demonstrate an understanding and ability to operate the C-Arm and its various functions under the direction of a physician.
• Operate C-arm to assist physicians with procedures including epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, medial branch blocks, caudal injections, neurotomy, port placement, cholangiograms, urology surgeries, and ortho surgeries.
• Assist in ASC procedure room by preparing procedure supplies and medications following infection control and sterile field procedures, documenting details and events during procedures, cleaning and maintaining equipment and work area, and maintaining inventory and ordering supplies.
• Complete orientation and training specific to ASC duties.
• Participate in ASC meetings and huddles.
• Release radiologic images to patients in the form of a CD or printed paper; ensure release forms are filled out correctly and sent to the HIM department.
• Participate in training employees and student technologists in equipment operation, patient movement, and quality assurance.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the Radiology room and equipment in accordance with infection control procedures; stock necessary medical and radiologic supplies.

Requirements

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Current student or recent graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiological Technology.
• Ability to obtain ARRT certification within one year.
• Ability to obtain WA state license within one year.

Pay

The hourly pay for this role will range from $27.00 to $47.00 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
