About the Role

Performs outpatient and/or inpatient Radiographic procedures using mobile and stationary equipment within the pertinent clinical setting of General Diagnostics, Fluoroscopy, Mobile Radiography, Emergency Radiography, and Mobile Radiographic and Fluoroscopic procedures in the Operating Room.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and assess data reflective of the patient's status to interpret age-specific needs.
• Perform simple and complex radiographic procedures within the clinical setting by proper application of the required imaging and ancillary equipment with minimal supervision.
• Accurately perform examinations using stationary and mobile radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws (HIPAA) and the facility’s policies and procedures.
• Verify proper patient identification and exam ordered to ensure correct patient imaging is performed.
• Review patient medical history and results of prior diagnostic tests to validate imaging needs.
• Ensure images are properly identified with correct patient identification and lead markers.
• Review and assure requisition is properly completed with date, time, tech initials, number of images, and clinical history.
• Practice radiation protection by calculating and selecting proper technical factors based on patient’s age, physical condition, and suspected pathology.
• Effectively utilize beam limiting devices, protective apparel, and immobilization devices.
• Prepare exam room and X-ray equipment to conduct X-ray examinations in accordance with infectious disease, sterilization, and patient safety protocols.
• Determine appropriate sequence to conduct multiple procedures and patient prioritization.
• Coordinate exams with other departments as necessary.
• Abide by and maintain a working knowledge of institutional policy and TJC policy on patient safety goals and guidelines.
• Orient and train new staff members in department procedures and equipment.
• Provide instruction and assist with education of radiography students approved for such training.
• Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition and ensure it is properly supplied for diagnostic procedures.
• Ensure sterile supplies are not damaged or expired.
• Ensure proper function of suction machines and oxygen outlets in work area.

Requirements

• Completion of certification program from a school of Radiologic Technology, Associate’s Degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree in radiology or associated field of study required.
• BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification (American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council) required.
• License Radiographer (142) - State of Wisconsin required.
• ARRT - Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required.

• Understanding of Children’s Wisconsin health care delivery system and the impact of other health care delivery systems on the patient and family.

$20,000 SIGN ON BONUS for experienced techs

Schedule

Hours: 2130-0700

• Tuesday-Friday/Wednesday-Saturday - alternating weeks
• Monday-Thursday/Sunday-Wednesday - alternating weeks
