Radiology Tech

Part-time, as-needed on-call position supporting education events at the Center for Surgical Innovation (CSI). Flexible hourly role (paid monthly) with variable hours throughout the year.

About the Role

The Radiology Tech is a fully operational technologist responsible for performing non-standardized tests and procedures using technical radiology skills, including fluoroscopy. They take and develop radiographs of various parts of the body to assist physicians in surgical trainings, position specimens, and use equipment skillfully to capture useful, high-quality diagnostic images.

Responsibilities

• Prepares equipment, supplies, and imaging parameters; implements safety standards and quality control procedures.
• Assists team in managing specimens during procedures, including documenting interventions, monitoring the station, and controlling traffic in and around the room.
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions.
• Performs scrub functions as needed, including preparation, selection, and handling of instruments and supplies used during surgical procedures; performs equipment counts with colleagues.
• Positions specimens and performs imaging procedures; analyzes results and identifies image quality issues.
• Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including re-positioning specimens and repeating procedures.
• Enters and transmits images as needed; documents work processes and maintains work areas, exam rooms, supplies, and equipment.
• Determines the most appropriate imaging approach, fluoroscopic technique, equipment settings, and workflow based on procedural objectives, specimen characteristics, and technical requirements.
• Evaluates operational needs and available resources to determine the most effective method for completing imaging procedures while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency.
• Assesses non-routine imaging and equipment challenges, evaluates alternative solutions, and independently selects the most appropriate course of action within established professional standards and departmental guidelines.
• Modifies imaging techniques and procedural workflow as needed to accommodate changing conditions, unique training scenarios, or technical limitations while ensuring optimal imaging outcomes.
• Serves as a technical resource to physicians, faculty, and staff by providing guidance on imaging techniques, equipment capabilities, and operational best practices.
• Identifies opportunities to improve imaging workflows and operational processes; recommends or implements process improvements based on technical expertise and operational analysis.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in a field related to radiology or equivalent work assignment.
• ARRT certification.
• Two (2) years of experience working as a radiology technician or similar role.
• An advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis if the degree is directly related to the work assignment.
• Preferred: 3+ years’ experience in a related area/specialty.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

Skills

• Critical thinking and decisive judgment; ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT & ICD-10 procedures, value-based care, and risk-based coding in Primary Care.
• Knowledge of medication and injection procedures; ability to safely administer treatments and medications as directed.
• Ability to use various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures; accurately take and record vital signs.
• Ability to accurately reconcile patient medications.

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $36.75–$44.10 per hour. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
