Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates competency in positioning of all radiological procedures as prescribed by departmental policy.
  • Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients' understanding and address any questions or concerns.
  • Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations and provides patient with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods.
  • Logs radiological procedures completed, processes charges and related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
  • Maintains cleanliness of examination rooms and stocks necessary medical and/or radiological supplies in the department.
  • Complies with all OrthoCarolina policy and procedures.
  • Affords assistance in the transportation of patients between the examination module(s) and the Radiology department.
  • Affords assistance with patient flow in the examination module(s) as directed by a supervisor.

Skills And Abilities

  • Operates various manufacturer types of Radiology suite equipment, (i.e. Siemens/GE/Philips).
  • Uses proficiently various manufacturer types of Digital Radiology (DR) and Computer Radiology (CR) reader systems.
  • Identifies equipment problems and corrects or notifies supervisor.
  • Positions patients properly and performs quality diagnostic radiographs.
  • Observes safety and security procedures.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the American Medical Association.
  • Minimum of one year experience as an x-ray tech with an orthopedic background.

Skills

  • Registered Radiology Tech by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) or ARRT registry eligible.
  • Current CPR certification recommended.

Qualifications

  • Professional license or certification requirements: Registered Radiology Tech by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) or ARRT registry eligible.
  • Education: Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the American Medical Association.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year experience as an x-ray tech with an orthopedic background.
