Radiology/CT Technologist - Per Diem

About the Role

The Radiologic Tech/CT Tech performs a wide variety of routine and advanced imaging procedures using radiologic equipment, computers, and detectors. Technologists provide basic maintenance, participate in the Quality Assurance program, and resolve issues related to image processing and the image archiving system.

Responsibilities

• Perform all general radiologic exams and advanced level CT imaging procedures
• Retrieve radiologic orders from Electronic Medical Record; acquire accurate patient history and documentation in the medical record
• Check orders for complete information, proper exam, and procedures; schedule as needed
• Prepare patients for radiologic procedures; escort patients to dressing and X-ray/CT room; provide verbal and/or written instructions, consents, and assist patients in positioning body parts to be imaged
• Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure patient care, safety, and comfort during exams; gain patient cooperation by reducing anxieties and providing explanations
• Operate radiologic equipment to produce images of the body part for diagnostic purposes
• Set up trays, perform time out, prepare contrasts, and administer IVs containing contrast; turn patients who are disabled with assistance if needed
• Apply dyes to enhance imaging as needed
• Position radiographic equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to examination specifications
• Perform X-rays/CT exams following established radiographic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety
• Utilize ALARA standards for radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure safety for patients and team members
• Critique images to determine if they are of diagnostic quality; adjust factors if an image needs to be repeated
• Ensure radiologic equipment is in working order; perform Quality Assurance testing to ensure proper calibration and optimal performance
• Report equipment malfunction to Practice Manager or Supervisor
• Perform administrative duties including completing necessary forms, maintaining quality assurance and procedure logs
• Serve as a backup for clinical team members as needed by controlling patient flow, performing ECG tests, obtaining blood pressure measurements, and documenting vital signs in the EHR
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain all X-ray and CT equipment
• Maintain radiology and CT supply inventory by checking stock, determining par levels, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of supplies
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology
• 2 years of experience working in a clinical field
• Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); must be in good standing
• CPR certification required within 90 days of hire

• Frequent standing, walking, grasping, carrying, reaching, bending, stooping, and occasional sitting
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with assistance if needed
• May need to lift or turn patients who are disabled, with assistance if needed
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
• Noise level in the work environment is moderate
