Radiological Technologist with Mammography
Position Summary
The Radiologic/Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic x-rays and screening/diagnostic mammography exams for use in the evaluation of patients. The position also performs all clerical functions within the department and reports to the Radiology Department Manager.
Job Description
- Performs diagnostic x-rays and mammography exams.
- Receives and evaluates providers' requests and interviews patients in order to determine views and positions necessary.
- P Practices safe operating procedures and practices radiation safety while performing radiologic services.
- Performs and assists in daily and monthly quality assurance required for mammography and x-ray.
- Is responsible for all radiology correspondence, internally and externally in reference to staff, physicians, and hospitals.
- Performs all clerical duties, answers telephones, and schedules appointments as needed.
- Surens that all reports are signed by the Radiologist and dated as to the day the report is sent to the requesting provider.
- Surens that providers receive all reports in a timely fashion.
- Participates in continuing education, and maintains knowledge of developments, trends, and techniques through the reading of technical journals and participation in educational programs.
Education/Experience
- Mammography Required.
- ARRT is required.
- Maine State license is required for those who perform duties in a health center located in the State of Maine.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Candidates without current certification must obtain it within 90 days of start date, and the organization will provide assistance and guidance throughout the process.
- Mammography Certification obtained within one year of start date.
Skills/Knowledge/Competencies

- Must have a working knowledge of radiographic equipment, procedures and techniques, radiation safety and protection.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with patients and staff.
- Ability to determine appropriate method for providing requested radiographs based upon the individual patient and pathology to ensure diagnostic radiographs.
- Ability to provide patient care with sensitivity and responsiveness to patients' needs.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Flexibility to cover at other sites if needed.
