About the role
To perform radiographic examinations on patients referred by physicians in accordance with Radiology protocols.
Responsibilities
- Performs Specialized procedures.
- Performs CT Scan procedures.
- Operates all radiographic imaging equipment associated with Special Procedures, Computed Tomography, and General Diagnostic, including but not limited to image intensifiers, monitors, injectors, and angiographic tables.
- Applies the necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of an acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and the patient’s needs.
- Provides Leadership and direction to support personnel in the absence of a supervisor.
- Delegates responsibility to staff as appropriate.
- Captures and coordinates scan protocols with radiologist.
- Scans patient documents as required.
- Employs radiation protection measures and follows departmental protocols to keep exposure of patients, visitors and hospital personnel to a minimum.
- Prevents the spread of infection to self, patients, visitors, and other employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocol.
- Ensures supplies are ordered as needed by informing immediate supervisor or personnel responsible for placing orders.
- Maintains exam room cleanliness and orderliness of the work area and equipment to include removal of soiled or dirty linen to ensure compliance with infection control and departmental standards.
- Accurately records all required patient tracking information into IDX (Radiology Information System).
- Schedules exams into IDX (Radiology Information System) as required.
Qualifications
- High school graduate.
- Graduate from an accredited program in radiological technology.
- Minimum of five years as radiological technologist.
- New York State License; ARRT Certification.
