About the Role

The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants with the examination and treatment of Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. The RT performs and analyzes patient x-rays, reports results to Medical Providers, and provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care Centers.

• Collaborate with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.
• Exercise professional judgment to provide healthcare services, including applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups.

Responsibilities

• Perform x-ray services for patients under the direction of the clinical provider, ensuring correct positioning and protection during use.
• Prepare patients for examination, including conducting interviews, recording medical history, confirming the purpose of the visit, and performing preliminary physical tests (e.g., blood pressure, weight, temperature). Escalate critical cases to the provider as needed.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide patient information to the provider.
• Maintain medical records, scan charts to patient files, and conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care.
• Perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, and submit repair tickets as needed.
• Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider to determine optimal procedures or views for accurate diagnoses and treatment.
• Support clinic operations to ensure smooth center functionality.
• Explain procedures to patients, ensure their comfort and safety, and answer questions.
• Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging results.
• Select proper ionizing factors to capture clear, high-quality diagnostic images.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of X-ray equipment, and manage necessary supplies.
• Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
• Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures in electronic systems.
• Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required.
• Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire.
• State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law).

Skills & Knowledge

• Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement.
• Knowledge of radiology equipment, including safety hazards common to radiology.
• Ability to position patients properly for X-ray procedures.
• Ability to identify equipment problems and correct or notify a supervisor.
• Ability to follow infection control and radiological safety procedures.

Pay

Hourly Range: $38.50–$47.50/hour

• Monthly incentive pay based on performance metrics.
• Sign-on bonus eligibility (where applicable).

Schedule

Candidates must be willing to work between the hours of 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM, including coverage for a combination of the following shifts as needed:

• 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
• 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM
