About the role
Assist physicians and other staff members with care of patients in producing high quality radiographs.
Responsibilities
- Command of radiographic technique and medical imaging systems, including assisting other staff members as needed
- Understand and carry out radiology requisitions and views; memorize physician-specific exam requirements
- Assist patients with positioning, including occasional lifting
- Take X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety
- Stock necessary supplies and use radiation protection/shielding materials
- Provide direct training and supervision to student technologists
- Ensure equipment is in working order; report malfunctions to supervisor
- Operate portables and C-Arm equipment (if applicable)
- Provide backup support to Medical Assistants, including:
- Rooming patients
- Transcribing and entering tests/procedures
- EMR documentation
- Reviewing initial vital signs
- Assisting with minor procedures (e.g., suture/staple removal)
- Assisting with DME placement/removal
- Sterilizing and stocking equipment/exam rooms
- Import and upload outside CDs for clinic
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited two-year radiologic technology program or equivalent military training
- Completion of coursework required for appropriate state licensure and certification(s) (if applicable)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Knowledge of radiographic technique and medical imaging system(s)
- Vast knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy
- Ability to work independently and comply with HIPAA requirements
- Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) may be required; MVR screened annually
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous orthopaedic experience
