Inova Fairfax Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech) to join our team on a Full-Time Day shift (32 hours/week). Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance may be available.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of radiologic principles, theory, anatomy, and pathology processes by utilizing the most appropriate techniques and/or positioning for optimal examinations
• Adhere to department policies and protocols to ensure all examinations are optimized for interpretation
• Confidently operate radiological equipment in all care settings (e.g., fluoroscopy, trauma, Emergency Department, and Operating Room)
• Demonstrate effective use of radiation protection procedures with collimation devices and protective shielding
• Operate imaging and other related equipment according to manufacturers' specifications
• Demonstrate proper technique for injection of IV contrast under the American College of Radiology guidelines
• Assist in teaching radiography students sound radiography principles
• Communicate effectively with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent from patients and/or patients' charts to assist physicians in optimizing performance and interpretation of examinations
• Explain procedures to patients/families and answer questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation
• Correctly identify patients and their files while ensuring a high degree of accuracy
• Track patients according to department procedures
• Assist physicians in performing a variety of examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile techniques
• Recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them for the most desirable outcomes

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school/program of radiography
• ARRT registered as a Radiologic Technologist within 12 months of hire
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
• One year of combined classroom and clinical training in radiology
• Recent experience in a hospital/healthcare environment as a Radiologic Technologist or student
