Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Diagnostic Radiology Manager and/or Assistant Chief Technologist, the Radiologic Technologist performs a broad range of technical and professional duties using sophisticated imaging equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic radiographs for interpretation by radiologists. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care, ensuring imaging quality and safety standards, and supporting departmental excellence through collaboration, customer service, and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality, efficient diagnostic radiographic examinations using established imaging protocols and age-specific standards.
  • Verify physician orders and examination requests prior to performing procedures.
  • Produce diagnostic-quality images that support accurate interpretation and patient care.
  • Operate radiographic equipment safely and effectively to achieve optimal imaging results.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections to ensure proper functionality, performance, and image quality.
  • Adhere to departmental and organizational policies regarding equipment use and safety.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and dignity.
  • Clearly explain procedures, answer questions, and address patient concerns to promote understanding and cooperation.
  • Utilize age-specific care standards in all patient interactions.
  • Foster a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and families.
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms to ensure a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment.
  • Replenish supplies promptly to support efficient patient flow and operational effectiveness.
  • Complete accurate documentation and image management activities to support medical records and billing processes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, technologists, and other healthcare team members.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program required.
  • Associate degree preferred, but not required with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated technical skills consistent with entry-level radiography standards.
  • Experience performing routine radiographic examinations preferred.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification required.
  • Certification required.
  • Connecticut State License required.
  • CPR Certification preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in routine radiography and CR/Digital Imaging techniques.
  • Working knowledge of PACS and healthcare computer applications.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining high standards of patient care and image quality.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds to assist with patient positioning and transfers.
