Radiologic Technologist OR Specialist

Job Summary

The Imaging OR Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of Imaging procedures ordered by the physician. This role ensures the delivery of quality patient care in a diagnostic/therapeutic environment, specifically in the OR environment. They are highly skilled in the use of imaging OR equipment and assist surgeons during OR procedures.

What You Will Do

• Operates all department equipment safely and properly.
• Adheres to strict radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self.
• Implements proper exposure techniques and positioning.
• Accurately documents all imaging procedures, maintains accurate patient records.
• Operates and maintains specialized x-ray equipment, including intraoperative CT, all C-Arms (including 3D).
• Maintains sterile field and follows proper aseptic techniques while operating OR x-ray equipment.
• Able to troubleshoot equipment issues and adapt to changing situations during complex surgical procedures.
• Able to perform contrast media administration according to age/weight specific guidelines.
• Able to perform portable exams.
• Follows proper procedures for quality controls related to equipment and accessories.
• Participates in the holiday and on-call work schedule.
• Follows department protocols for communicating with patients, doctors, and coworkers.
• Transports patients to and from the radiology dept. safely.
• Demonstrates the ability to start and maintain IV access.
• Accurately follows physician orders, documents completion of exam in Meditech, scans documents, and verifies images in PACS.
• Teaches and mentors new hires and radiology students.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (ARRT-R)
• Radiography must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology; Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
• 1 year post-graduate experience

We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility includes a state of the art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB-GYN services. Patients have access to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They also have access to (NICU) and behavioral health treatment centers for children and adults.
