Responsibilities

• Operates digital fluoroscopic and portable radiology equipment to obtain routine radiographs of designated body areas according to physician specifications and established radiographic protocols.
• Applies radiologic knowledge to provide diagnostic imaging services for patients of all ages while adhering to radiation safety and organizational policies.
• Demonstrates competency in general radiography and fluoroscopy by acquiring and evaluating images for technical quality, ensuring proper patient identification and image labeling.
• Independently supports invasive procedures in the operating room using a C-Arm and/or O-Arm.
• Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing workflows, patient experience, quality, and safety to improve patient care and operational efficiency.
• Actively participates in student and employee training and educational activities.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and prepared work environment, including cleaning and preparing patient rooms.
• Maintains supplies and inventory within the assigned area.
• Communicates effectively with patients to obtain relevant medical history, answer questions, and explain procedures to ensure patient understanding and comfort.
• Ensures the proper maintenance and operation of equipment by performing quality control activities and promptly reporting equipment or environmental issues.
• Provides patient education and support, including preparing patients for procedures and addressing their physical and psychological needs.
• Escalates concerns through appropriate channels as needed.
• Prioritizes patient flow and coordinates care through consistent and effective communication with patients, care teams, and families.
• Documents patient care activities in electronic health record systems and distributes final images to the PACS system in a timely manner for interpretation.
• Consistently demonstrates professionalism in actions and communication, embodying the organization's SPIRIT values and fostering a respectful and supportive environment for patients, families, and colleagues.
• Adheres to the ARRT Standards of Ethics.
• Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, professional, and accreditation requirements.
• Follows leadership direction and established protocols, maintaining efficient patient flow and seeking clarification whenever necessary.

Requirements

• Associate's degree required; or Certificate in Radiologic Technology (awarded before January 1, 2015) from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC) required.
• Three (3) or more years of experience in diagnostic radiography and fluoroscopy (XR/RF) required.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required upon hire.
• Licensed Radiologic Technologist in Maryland and/or Virginia, as applicable, required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.

Skills

Pay

This position has a hiring range of USD $29.73 - USD $48.63 per hour.
