About the role
The Radiologic Tech II position at Houston Methodist West Hospital is responsible for performing a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic radiology procedures, including X-rays and Fluoroscopy (including support for OR cases), using digital radiography and fluoroscopy techniques. This role is part of the direct patient care team and requires full competence in various radiology procedures. The position also serves as a mentor to Radiologic Technologists I and students.
Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic radiology procedures, including X-Ray exams and Fluoroscopy procedures.
- Assists physicians during diagnostic procedures, ensuring sterile technique.
- Provides direct assistance to physicians, explaining procedures and instructions to patients and family members.
- Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications and limitations associated with certain procedures.
- Collaborates with the patient care team and guides and mentors Radiologic Technologists I and students.
- Ensures proper sterile techniques for procedures, maintains aseptic practices, and complies with radiation safety and infection control procedures.
- Follows safety standards, conducts imaging procedures according to safety protocols, and reports near misses and errors promptly.
- Maintains and educates on department-based safety initiatives and standards of practice.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s).
- Required ARRT-R - Radiologic Technologist - Radiographer (ARRT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - PSV and CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist - State Licensure - Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation - PSV and BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association.
