Responsibilities
- Greet patient, introduces self, and checks patient identification.
- Reviews patient script and Cerner requisition to ensure the appropriate exam is being performed.
- Acquires appropriate history from patient that is pertinent to the exam being performed.
- Explains procedure and answers any questions the patient has regarding the test.
- Follows department protocol for exam and ensures the safety & comfort of the patient.
- Shields patient according to department protocol and follows ALARA standards.
- Produces and review high quality xrays for interpretation by the Radiologist.
- Interacts professionally with patient and family.
- Attends annual hospital review & departmental inservices meetings.
- P practices medicine & surgical aseptic procedures.
- Assists Radiologist with invasive procedures.
- Works well with other modalities to provide complete patient care.
- May provide clinical instruction to prospective radiographers to instill duties of a radiologic technologist in a health care facility.
- May evaluate a students' ability to perform procedures & ensures student attains objectives of each competency.
- Maintains clinical competency and demonstrates proficiency to work in assigned patient care area(s).
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Continuing education, 24 CEU credits for license.
- Maintains current knowledge of professional discipline & educational methodologies through continuing professional development.
- Experience with patient care in a radiology setting.
