Responsibilities

  • Greet patient, introduces self, and checks patient identification.
  • Reviews patient script and Cerner requisition to ensure the appropriate exam is being performed.
  • Acquires appropriate history from patient that is pertinent to the exam being performed.
  • Explains procedure and answers any questions the patient has regarding the test.
  • Follows department protocol for exam and ensures the safety & comfort of the patient.
  • Shields patient according to department protocol and follows ALARA standards.
  • Produces and review high quality xrays for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Interacts professionally with patient and family.
  • Attends annual hospital review & departmental inservices meetings.
  • P practices medicine & surgical aseptic procedures.
  • Assists Radiologist with invasive procedures.
  • Works well with other modalities to provide complete patient care.
  • May provide clinical instruction to prospective radiographers to instill duties of a radiologic technologist in a health care facility.
  • May evaluate a students' ability to perform procedures & ensures student attains objectives of each competency.
  • Maintains clinical competency and demonstrates proficiency to work in assigned patient care area(s).
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Continuing education, 24 CEU credits for license.
  • Maintains current knowledge of professional discipline & educational methodologies through continuing professional development.
  • Experience with patient care in a radiology setting.
