Radiologic Technologist I
About the Role
Provides general radiology and fluoroscopic imaging across various hospital areas, including emergency, surgery, and bedside services. Performs diagnostic examinations by positioning patients, selecting technical factors, and reviewing clinical history and prior studies. Ensures patient safety by verifying identity, maintaining privacy, and following safety protocols, including ALARA principles. Assists radiologists during procedures, operates imaging systems, and prepares images for interpretation and PACS transmission. Maintains equipment, supplies, and departmental cleanliness while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Participates in emergency response teams and shares on-call duties. Engages in ongoing education and departmental meetings to stay current with best practices.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient preparation for imaging procedures
- Conduct diagnostic imaging, including positioning patients and selecting technical factors
- Review clinical history and prior studies to inform imaging decisions
- Ensure patient safety by verifying identity, maintaining privacy, and adhering to safety protocols (e.g., ALARA principles)
- Assist radiologists during procedures and operate imaging systems
- Prepare and transmit images for interpretation and PACS storage
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and departmental cleanliness
- Participate in emergency response teams and on-call duties
- Engage in ongoing education and attend departmental meetings
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in radiologic technology or equivalent experience
- Radiographer license and Radiologic Technologist Certification from ARRT
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong knowledge of imaging equipment, patient positioning, and safety protocols
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in trauma, fluoroscopy, and surgery settings
