Responsibilities
- Makes sure all equipment is turned on and in working order.
- Ensures tables are wiped with sanitizer wipes, floors are free of dust, X-ray detector is wiped and tether tangle free, and gowns are fully stocked in X-ray and DEXA room.
- Checks appointments.
- Ensures all patients have a DEXA order before performing DEXA.
- Verifies that it has been at least 2 years since the last DEXA.
- Ensures patient has filled out a one-page questionnaire.
- Obtains height and weight.
- After the bone density test, moves patient to tracker for reception if patient has additional appointments.
- Checks the X-ray orders in the chart. Ensures that the order placed is a new order and not one that’s already been done.
- Determines the best way to assist patients with mobility impairments.
- Faxes X-rays at noon and at the end of the day.
- Sends X-rays.
- Receives reports and ensures they match the order.
- Indexes and attaches reports to the correct charts.
- Shuts down and cleans the machines at the end of the day and sends the X-ray log to AAI.
- Ensures all safety protocols are followed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration.
- NYS licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or within 90 days of hire.
- Knowledge of Database software, Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
- Working knowledge of digital x-ray machine.
- Certification in DEXA and ultrasound is a plus.
