About the role

The Radiologic Technologist performs medical exams using X-rays or other diagnostic imaging examinations on patients to create images of specific parts of the body. These images are interpreted by a doctor for diagnosis and monitoring of disease.

Working under direct supervision, this position prepares patients for exams, positions patients correctly, operates imaging equipment, and uses knowledge and skill to minimize radiation dose to the patient.

Responsibilities

  • Follows instructions from physicians regarding which area of the patient’s body needs imaging.
  • Talks the patient through the procedure to lower anxiety and increase understanding.
  • Positions the patient correctly and adjusts imaging equipment to create quality images.
  • Prevents unnecessary radiation exposure to themselves and the patient.
  • Follows correct techniques and procedures, such as patient shielding, to ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic imaging.
  • Completes required documentation for each procedure to maintain proper patient records and facilitate communication among healthcare providers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a Radiology, Imaging, or related educational program.

Qualifications

  • ARRT (R) certification (Radiologic Technologist - Dx).
  • BLS (CPR) certification from the American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare.
