About the role
Applicants must be in their second year of an accredited radiologic technologist program.
Responsibilities
- Prepares patient for exam or procedure and assists technologist, nurse, or physician.
- Maintains patient and staff confidentiality at all times.
- Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering questions.
- Demonstrates an understanding of radiation dose reference levels and monitoring. Takes action if the estimated dose exceeds set levels.
- Takes action when the reference level is exceeded, which may include patient follow-up.
- Verifies the patient's identification using two forms of ID as outlined in hospital policies using AIDET.
- Operates and maintains equipment safely and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintains a clean and serviceable work environment to enhance patient care.
- Places general and special supply orders from purchasing promptly.
- Thoroughly cleans the room to prepare for the next patient.
- Recommends terminal clean to meet patient infection control standards.
- Wears a personal monitoring device on the collar and outside the apron consistently.
- Sets up and operates imaging equipment.
- Submits personal monitoring device for assessment of occupational dosage.
- Reports any loss, damage, or unusual events associated with personal monitoring device immediately to the Radiation Safety Office.

- Ensures that records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling.
- Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.
- Verifies the requisition/chart for a valid written order, priority, date, ordering comments, and physician's notes.
- Uses the time-out process for invasive procedures, precautions, and patient consent forms.

Requirements
- Able to explain the procedure and put patients at ease.
- Provide services quickly, accurately, and cost-efficiently, following System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
- Able to perform tasks autonomously without need for routine oversight.
- Able to stay calm and helpful during stress and take reasonable steps to resolve issues.
- Able to effectively administer first aid and use emergency cart.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service.
- Remain professional, review patient satisfaction scores, and develop action plans when needed.
- Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, continued education, and skills appropriate care for all age groups.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
- Less than 1 Year of Experience
