Responsibilities

  • Utilize hospital computer systems (HIS/RIS/PACS) to retrieve information, export images, review images, verify data, perform order entry, and complete exam records in RIS.
  • Receive order requests, check for special instructions, and consult with Radiologists as needed.
  • Prepare room, equipment, and imaging materials for patients.
  • Explain procedures to patients and transfer them to the imaging table if required.
  • Position patients for all needed views, adapting as necessary for patient cooperation or compliance.
  • Prepare various contrast mediums for x-rays and select/operate equipment as directed.
  • Follow prescribed techniques in administering x-rays, adjusting equipment settings and exposure parameters on an individual patient basis.
  • Observe patients and machines during procedures, reporting unusual occurrences.
  • Perform patient assessments to assist Radiologists during interpretation.
  • Perform imaging in the main department, off-site locations, surgery, and portable work as assigned.
  • Provide age-appropriate care, primarily for adults and geriatric patients, but occasionally for adolescents, children, infants, and neonates.
  • Lift, move, and transport patients via wheelchair or cart between patient rooms, Surgery Center, ESD, and other care areas.
  • Participate in emergency cases on a rotational basis.
  • Teach clinical affiliate students.
  • Assist with clerical and front office duties, including answering phones, releasing information, burning CDs, and performing short registrations or patient vitals (blood pressure, height, weight, temperature).
  • Identify problems, communicate them to supervisors, and offer solutions as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a formal radiologic technology training program in an approved school.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration and licensure by the State of Ohio (ODH) as a Radiographer (both must remain active).
  • New graduates who are registry-eligible may be hired but must obtain ARRT and ODH licensure within 60 days of hire (cannot work independently prior to meeting requirements).
  • Current CPR certification, with bi-annual recertification required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
  • Proper use of body mechanics to push, pull, and/or lift patients from carts, wheelchairs, or other transport devices onto imaging tables.
