We provide imaging services for a diverse patient population, including inpatients, outpatients, and Emergency Department patients. Our goal is to support clinicians with accurate and timely imaging to aid in diagnosis and treatment, ultimately contributing to the best possible patient outcomes.

Our department is equipped with advanced imaging technologies and offers a comprehensive range of services:

  • Diagnostic Radiology
  • Computed Tomography (CT)
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Ultrasound
  • Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (NM and PET)
  • Interventional Radiology (IR)

Each modality is staffed by highly skilled technologists and radiologists who work collaboratively to ensure safety, quality, and compassionate care for every patient.

About the Organization

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Irving is part of the Baylor Scott & White Health System. Established in 1964, the facility now offers 293 licensed beds and delivers care through 32,991 outpatient visits, 76,730 emergency department visits, and 11,753 admissions annually. Over 2,000 babies are born at this facility each year. Specialties include oncology, digestive, and cardiovascular care. Responsibilities

  • Performs high-quality radiology procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
  • Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrates understanding of radiation dose reference levels, monitoring, and actions to take if levels are exceeded, including patient follow-up.
  • Utilizes AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) when communicating with patients to ensure correct exams are performed.
  • Instructs and communicates with patients and their families regarding procedures and assesses patient’s ability to tolerate exams.
  • Prepares patients and equipment for procedures by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, and setting exposure factors.
  • Adheres to safety requirements, infection-control policies, and sterile techniques for invasive procedures.
  • Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards.
  • Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.
  • Reports issues to management or appropriate departments and assists in maintaining supplies inventory.
  • Screens individuals for safety before allowing entry into the department.
  • Obtains, verifies, and maintains relevant documentation such as requisitions, patient history, consent forms, and policies.
  • Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate systems according to department policies.
  • Serves as a preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services.
  • Takes call if required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program.
  • 2 years of experience (preferred).

Qualifications

  • ARRT-R (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Radiography) certification.
  • Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtained within 30 days of hire.

  • Able to explain procedures and put patients at ease.
  • Able to provide services in a timely, accurate, and cost-efficient manner in compliance with established standards.
  • Able to perform tasks independently without routine oversight.
  • Able to maintain a calm and helpful attitude under stress and take appropriate steps to resolve issues.
  • Able to effectively administer first aid and use an emergency cart.
  • Able to ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, and reviewing patient satisfaction scores.
  • Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge and skills appropriate for newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult, and geriatric care.
