Radiographer Job Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of radiographic, mammographic, and fluoroscopic exams with mobile and stationary equipment as approved.
- Set, adjust, manipulate, control and maintain a variety of complex electronic equipment to apply ionizing radiation to patients for diagnosis.
- Practice radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factor, to minimize radiation to patient, staff and self.
- Explain the procedure to the patient. Instruct and assist patient in assuming physical position for exam.
- Assist physicians in administering prescribed contrast media.
Radiographer Education and Experience Requirements
- Completion of a 2-year approved Radiological Technology Program required.
- Current license in the State of Connecticut required.
- Registered, or registry eligible, with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists required.
- Maintenance of appropriate CEU's to meet ARRT guidelines required.
- CPR – Current AHA Healthcare Provider Certification / equivalent within 3 months of hire is required.
- Approved vein puncture and lab procedures according to the Laboratory policies, if applicable, is preferred.
- Approved computer registration according to the Admitting policies, if applicable, is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-year practical experience performing related duties as a radiographer is preferred.
Radiographer Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High degree of technical aptitude with an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Knowledge of computer keyboard, programs and menus.
