About the role
Responsible for testing and troubleshooting microwave components, sub-assemblies and final products to ensure products meet company and customer specifications.
Responsibilities
- Performs set-up and checks accuracy of standard microwave bench test equipment, such as sweep generators, network analyzers, and frequency counters.
- Performs microwave test, takes measurements and tunes products to meet specifications.
- Troubleshoots components, sub-assemblies, final products and/or systems and test equipment to determine cause and remedy of malfunctions.
- Interfaces, as directed; with other departments to resolve problems regarding testing or assembly.
- Provides work directions to lower-level technicians.
- Performs data review and trend analysis on antenna data.
- Tests, evaluates and recommends special purpose test fixtures as required.
- Performs maintenance, repair and/or fabrication of production test equipment (production and prototype).
- Affords assistance in the verification, development and documentation of test procedures and special applications as required by interpreting product specifications.
- Performs limited, intermittent physical exertion. Works under acceptable conditions with some distraction due to occasional exposure to noise, dust, heat or chemicals.
- Accurately reduces all data to real numbers for final ATP’s.
Requirements
- Requires an AA degree in electronics or 2 years of specialized trade or military training and/or a High School Diploma and a minimum of 6 years of related experience.
- Requires the use of complicated drawings and specifications, advanced mathematics, a wide variety of precision measuring instruments, and experience testing, troubleshooting and repairing microwave products, equipment and components.
Qualifications
- Flexible to work varied shifts, overtime, weekends and travel on occasion.
- Must have good repetitive manual dexterity with both hands.
- Must have sufficient vision to see relative positions of small parts and able to discern symmetry and proper alignment.
- Will be exposed to some or all of the following: fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and moderate to loud noise levels.
- Able to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, and squat.
- Able to occasionally push, and reach.
- Able to lift 50 pounds close to the body repetitively. (Employees need to ask for assistance and use material handling tools for less weight in awkward location and/or body positions and for any items over 50 pounds).
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.
