About the role
Provide radiation therapy services to cancer patients as directed by an authorized user (radiation oncology physician) in accordance with the established standards of the department.
Responsibilities
- Delivers accurately the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy in accordance with the radiation oncologist written directive and maintains legible and accurate records of daily treatment as required.
- Performs radiation simulations procedures and observes patients for unusual reactions and/or events.
- Performs procedures related to physics/dosimetry with and without supervision of the physicist and/or dosimetrist.
- Follows all mandated departmental radiation safety, emergency, and hazardous materials procedures.
- Reports and records equipment deficiencies to the Manager and/or Bio-Medical Engineering.
- Responsible for supervision, instruction, and education of students.
- Attends departmental meetings and conferences.
- Assists in nursing related functions as necessary.
- Responsible for coordination of work flow to accommodate quality patient care and patient treatments.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 60 days of hire.
- Radiation Therapy American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registered.
- Graduate of a JRCERT accredited radiation therapy program.
