Patient Care
- Check calculations and simulation sheets for accuracy before the first treatment.
- Initial the calculation sheet and document verification in the treatment chart.
- Ensure presence of signed consent forms, face photos, and simulation pictures.
- Review simulation film before the first treatment.
- Record initial set-up date on treatment parameters sheets and report deviations.
- Take initial port film on the first treatment if treatment blocks are available.
- Verify immobilization, laser lines, marks, and treatment parameters daily.
- Place accurate legible increases in the chart after each treatment.
- Make corrections with a single straight line through the incorrect entry and write the correct entry neatly above.
- Check the dose in the chart with the record and verify system daily.
- Review charts weekly for diagrams, photographs, weekly separation checks, and total dose column.
- Place an entry in the chart indicating a weekly chart check and a check mark in the total dose column.
- Place tattoos on patients except whole brain patients during the second week of treatment.
- Schedule simulations through Kelly as needed for patients under treatment.
- Remove port film jackets and take them for filing on Fridays.
Equipment and Maintenance
- Responsible for daily equipment warm-ups and maintenance/quality control.
- Perform machine output checks, patient safety checks, and basic machine maintenance.
Simulation
- Knowledgeable about simulation procedures including patient set-ups, immobilization, and shielding devices.
- Ensure accurate and complete capture of appropriate procedure and charges daily.
- Must be familiar with routine diagnostic radiography and procedures to provide back-up coverage.
Know How
- Job Knowledge:
- Requires an Associates Degree of Applied Science or certificate in Radiological Technology with a certificate in Radiation Therapy Technology.
- Must be certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists in the specific discipline of Radiation Therapy.
- Maintain licensure by the State of Mississippi.
- Maintain CPR Certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of serving adult and geriatric populations.
Requirements
- Licenses:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and Certified Pulmonary Resuscitation/Basic Life Support.
- Education:
- Associates or higher degree.
