Intertek is seeking a Radiation Safety Officer with RT Level II certification to join our Industry Services team in Houston, TX. This role supports Intertek's Asset Integrity Management services, providing specialist engineering support across infrastructure, facilities, and equipment lifecycle phases.

About the role

The Radiation Safety Officer will manage Intertek’s radiation safety program while also performing fieldwork as an RT Level II Technician. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, ensuring compliance with codes and standards, and supervising personnel working with radioactive materials.

Responsibilities

  • Manage radiation safety programs and research new/existing radiation regulations
  • Measure product, material, or facility radiation levels
  • Supervise personnel working with radioactive materials
  • Perform Radiographic Testing Film Interpretation (RTfi) in accordance with applicable codes and standards
  • Set up and calibrate equipment; interpret and evaluate results against codes, standards, and specifications
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to trainees and NDT Level I personnel
  • Organize and report results of assigned NDT tasks
  • Maintain a "Marketing and Sales" attitude in all client, vendor, and employee interactions
  • Pursue continuing technical education courses or seminars

Requirements

  • Prior experience and certification as a Radiation Safety Officer
  • ASNT Level II certification in Radiographic examination (Code Quality)
  • Minimum of 3+ years of field experience
  • Valid State card, driver’s license, and reliable driving record
  • TWIC Card
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a physical exam
  • Safety-first mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASNT Level II certification in UT-Thickness, MT, and/or PT
  • Computed Radiography (CR) experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to organize and report test results efficiently
  • Problem-solving skills for technical issues in the field
  • Rope Access certification (a plus)
