Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat cancer patients (inpatient and outpatient) for both palliative and curative purposes
- Develop and document individualized treatment plans, including advanced modalities (3D-conformal, VMAT, IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, SRS)
- Conduct patient consultations, pretreatment evaluations, and obtain informed consent
- Monitor patients during treatment, adjust prescriptions as needed, and document all care in the VA’s electronic health record systems (CPRS and ARIA/Eclipse)
- Participate in weekly peer review conferences, tumor boards, and quality improvement meetings
- Provide follow-up evaluations within 30–60 days post-treatment and document treatment discharge summaries
- Ensure compliance with all VA, national, and accrediting body standards for radiation oncology practice
- Participate in administrative duties, including quality assurance, staff meetings, and reporting of incidents or adverse events
- Maintain and protect patient medical records in accordance with VA policies and HIPAA
- Be available for on-call coverage during clinic off-hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Qualifications
- Board Certified in Radiation Oncology (American Board of Radiology or equivalent), with up-to-date continuing education
- Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience excluding clinical experience
- Maintain an active AHA BLS and ACLS certification
- NPI report printout
- Active DEA license
- Pass a federal background investigation
