About the role
The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures using radiographic equipment to produce high-quality images for physician interpretation. Ensures patient safety, follows radiation protection standards, prepares patients for procedures, maintains imaging equipment, and collaborates with the healthcare team to provide accurate and efficient diagnostic services.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine diagnostic radiographic examinations following physician orders and established imaging protocols.
- Position patients appropriately and operate radiographic equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Ensure radiation safety by following ALARA principles and maintaining patient and staff protection.
- Verify patient identity, explain imaging procedures, and monitor patient comfort throughout examinations.
- Maintain accurate imaging documentation and electronic medical records.
- Review image quality and repeat studies when necessary to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
- Perform routine equipment quality control and report equipment issues as needed.
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure a clean, safe imaging environment.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- Education and Experience: Associate's degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required. Previous radiology experience preferred. Hospital or outpatient imaging experience preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current Registered Radiologic Technologist RT(R) – ARRT required. State Radiologic Technologist license, if required by state. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or required per facility policy.
