Responsibilities

• Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies, performing responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values.
• Adheres to hospital and departmental policies, including confidentiality.
• Exhibits an acceptable work ethic, including regular and prompt attendance and adherence to timekeeping/clocking policies.
• Utilizes proper body mechanics for moving, positioning, and transferring patients, as well as moving equipment/supplies necessary for essential functions.
• Demonstrates CPR according to American Heart Association standards.
• Works assigned schedule, including overtime and call as required.
• May assist with training MRI students.
• Performs related digital image management tasks, such as exceptions and annotations.
• Maintains competency with imaging equipment and supplies, including:
  • 3T and/or 1.5T MRI
  • All coils associated with MRI exams
  • Power injector
  • MRI patient monitoring equipment
  • Post-processing software
• Demonstrates proper positioning for all MRI exams and appropriately labels patient position for correct image orientation.
• Adjusts scanning factors, coils, and parameters based on patient and body part, including for "conditional" implants according to manufacturer literature and peer-reviewed data.
• Adheres to all MRI safety and screening policies for patients, visitors, and healthcare workers; reports unsafe practices and conditions.
• Performs patient assessment and screening within scope of practice.
• Reviews patient's prior imaging and history to ensure appropriate exams are ordered, consulting radiologists or practitioners as needed.
• Researches surgical histories, devices, and implants.
• Demonstrates understanding of MRI hazards and applies safety measures, such as proper padding and positioning to prevent burns.
• Uses methods to alleviate patient claustrophobia or anxiety.
• Recognizes emergency situations and initiates code procedures following safe MRI protocols.
• Maintains aseptic or sterile technique for MRI image-guided invasive procedures.
• Assists radiologists/physicians during MRI image-guided invasive procedures.
• Prepares patients for intravenous (IV) injections, including starting and maintaining IV access.
• Administers IV contrast per approved protocols.
• Completes all mandatory department, educational, and hospital requirements.
• Adheres to current infection control and safety standards.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, successful completion of an approved course in Radiologic Technology, and 1 year of experience conducting routine diagnostic procedures.
• Completion of an approved program in advanced modality or 1 year of experience in an advanced modality.
• Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology may substitute for the required experience in conducting routine diagnostic procedures.
• ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Diagnostic Radiology (required upon hire).
• Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
