About the Role
Radiologic Technologists (Rad Techs or RTs) assist Radiologist physicians with imaging and diagnosing illness. Responsibilities include capturing high-quality images, ensuring patient comfort and safety, and effectively communicating procedures to patients.
Responsibilities
- Explain procedures to patients and ensure their comfort and ease during imaging.
- Position patients properly to obtain x-rays, CT scans, MR scans, or mammograms.
- Set equipment to achieve optimal density, detail, and contrast for the area being imaged.
- Take preventative steps to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology to assist physicians in diagnosing problems.
- Follow physician instructions, prepare radiography equipment, position patients, and obtain optimal images for diagnosis.
- Communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with diverse patients, including the elderly, ailing, and handicapped.
- Prepare patients by removing garments or jewelry that may interfere with the procedure.
Requirements
- Degree in radiologic technology from an accredited college or university.
- ARRT certification exam passed.
- Licensed by the state of Arkansas.
- BLS Certification.
- Knowledge of CT procedures.
