About the role

The Radiologic Technologist assists Radiologists or independently performs ordered imaging procedures specific to diagnostic imaging and related techniques, producing diagnostic images for interpretation. Radiologic Technologists must demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. They must maintain a high degree of accuracy in patient positioning and imaging technique, as well as knowledge of radiation protection and safety. Radiologic Technologists provide age-specific patient care based on assessment data, current knowledge/skills, department policies/procedures, and physician orders.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect machinery, office equipment, and/or medical equipment
  • Troubleshoot medical equipment
  • Solve problems requiring interpretation
  • Utilize reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Make judgments to take action which could result in patient outcomes
  • Frequent contact with water or other liquids (wet conditions)
  • Exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens
  • May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
  • Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
  • Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids, and wastes
  • Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards
  • May be exposed to biohazardous, radioactive substances
  • Exposed to a variety of electro-mechanical hazards
  • Exposed to odorous chemicals and specimens
  • Occasionally exposed to radiation hazards
  • Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment

Schedule

7 days on, followed by 7 days off. Shift: Thursday through Wednesday, 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date)
  • ARRT-R Radiography (RT) certification as a Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer
  • Associate Degree, Vocational School Graduate, or Certificate
