Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, team members, and others of diverse backgrounds.
- Moves, positions, and manipulates radiographic equipment to complete requested procedures safely.
- Performs direct patient care duties within the technologist’s scope of practice, including monitoring patient condition, transporting patient, and using proper infection control techniques.
- Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
- Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
- Cross-trains into advanced modalities as needed.
- Performs radiographic imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality images that meet department standards.
- Positions patients and equipment, selecting technical factors to produce radiographic images safely and in a timely manner.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
- Affords assistance to patients during procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and privacy, in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Requirements
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging to include Surgery and Trauma.
- Previous Radiologic Technologist experience [Preferred].
- One year post certification experience required to evaluate and/or instruct student radiographers.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry.
- Able to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operation, and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accurately.
- Up-to-date knowledge of patient positioning and equipment operations, including x-ray producing equipment, if applicable per facility.
- Able to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals.
- Able to fully use all Radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment.
- Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English.
- Must be able to use computer system for data entry and retrieval.
- Able to independently perform radiographic procedures to departmental standards.
- Demonstrates ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
- Able to learn and use radiology software packages such as Cerner, Radnet, PACS, etc.
- Maintain responsibility for all required registries and licenses to perform Diagnostic Imaging.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of patient positioning and equipment operations, including x-ray producing equipment, if applicable per facility.
- Able to determine appropriate technical factors.
- Able to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety.
- Able to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds.
- Able to perform radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.
- Knowledge of communication styles and constant deployment of proper engagement behaviors when encountering patients, staff, and physicians.
- This position requires knowledge of the use of computerized and radiographic equipment to perform diagnostic procedures in a manner consistent with minimal radiation exposure and maximum image quality.
- The ability to communicate and receive instructions, verbally and written and carry them out as directed.
- Able to operate radiographic equipment and work with electrical and radiant energy.
- Comprehensive knowledge of general radiographic procedures.
- Able to multi-task efficiently in a fast pace, high patient volume environment.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Able to maintain responsibility for all required registries and licenses to perform Diagnostic Imaging.
- Additional Licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit or state in which this position is located.
Qualifications
- Registered Technologist – Radiography (RT(R) (ARRT))[Required]
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
