About the role
The Radiologic Technologist Assistant supports the Diagnostic Radiology Department and the organization in providing high-quality patient care. This position reports directly to a Registered Technologist.
Responsibilities
- Produce a variety of high-quality images through proper positioning and technique
- Review patient’s chart for confirmation of physician's orders and follow written and/or verbal protocols and instructions
- Follow department, ACR, NRC, and State regulations for radiation safety to keep exposure "ALARA"
- Transport patients as needed
- Educate the patient and their family, as needed, regarding the exam, treatment, and outcome
- Perform visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel
- Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to the appropriate supervisor
- Perform procedures as the schedule requires and rotate call if needed
- Report to/has all images/scans checked by registered technologist before sending to PACS
- Review supporting documents
- Navigate EPIC as necessary (i.e. beginning exams, ending exams, ordering contrast, adding patient history, and any other assignments needed by registered technologist)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum Required Education: Student of an accredited program in radiologic technology or MRI, in good standing
- Experience: Completed the first year of Radiology Technical program at an accredited education institution
- Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: BLS certified within 1 month of employment
